This course is an introduction to basic drafting skills, including standard architectural symbols and conventions with emphasis on line quality and lettering. Students learn plans, elevations, sections and details . Students produce a set of construction drawings of an interior space.

- Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Utilize drafting tools and equipment.
- Demonstrate a beginning competency in basic drafting skills.
- Execute basic lettering, graphic, and pictorial drawing techniques.
- Apply appropriate scale and layout for visual communication and presentation.
- Utilize the various drawing standards and conventions used in architecture and interior design.
- Draw a simple floor plan and electrical plan with appropriate schedules and legends.
- Use orthographic projection for visualizing and drawing three-dimensional constructions of simplified rooms.
- Draw a simple section through a wood frame structure with appropriate scaling, dimensioning and symbology.
- Interpret working drawings by correctly relating information between drawings in an integrated set.
- Outline the importance of architectural and interior design services and their relationship as working team members with professional specialties.

- Develop a series of lettering and lineweight exercises that demonstrate mastery of architectural drafting techniques.
